Up Higher in the Mountains

It sounds corny but it's true--I live in Texas but my heart is in the mountains. I often insist I must have been a prospector or mountain pioneer in my previous life. This brings the inevitable eye rolling from my kids who know I'd rather get a root canal than camp outdoors.

But there is an unmistakable pull to the mountains, and the higher the better. Years ago, after my first foray into the San Juans, I said these mountains are what my heaven will look like. Now we've made the move and I get to see the San Juans regularly out my window. Life is good.

Here's the view from the new digs in Telluride.

Maybe this was me in a previous life. Okay, well, maybe not.
