Writing view today

Is it any wonder I'm having a hard time getting much written?

Good news is that I've managed to write the last three days in a row. Progress despite constant interruptions by the hound.

UPDATE: Closing up shop for the night. Even with the hound, I managed 1,000 words today. Success.

On the inside looking out

When it comes to writing my novel, I've about had it with myself. Start. Stop. Start. Stop. Now I'm determined to start and finish.

There have been so many distractions with three teenagers at home, one house being remodeled (blessedly finished now) and one house under construction. But no more excuses. Starting tomorrow I will write EVERY day.

I follow a romance writer, Jill Shalvis, on Instagram and her very entertaining blog. She has over 50 books published. Fifty! She typically publishes four books a year. Four!

The knee jerk response to Shalvis's prolificness (that's really a word - I looked it up to make sure) is to wonder, 'How does she do it?'

But I know how she does it--she writes--A LOT. She's always posting pictures of her writing views, which are usually idyllic spots along the shores of Lake Tahoe. But the point is, she's writing all the time.

So that's what I'm going to do. No more being outside the lives of writers, watching them, studying them and looking in.

Starting tomorrow morning, I'm on the inside looking out. I'm going to write nearly everyday until my book is finished. It's about twenty percent done now.

By the way, here's a picture of the inside looking out of our home under-construction. I took it upstairs on the mezzanine looking down over the gallery toward the front doors (or where the doors will go). It's one of my favorite spots.
